The Best Way to Store Fresh Herbs

Nothing’s sadder than wilted cilantro turning to sludge in your fridge. To keep herbs fresh, treat them like cut flowers. Trim the stems, submerge in water, and cover loosely with a plastic bag, basil likes room temperature, but parsley and thyme prefer the fridge.

For woody herbs like rosemary, wrap them in a damp paper towel. And if you’ve got too much? Freeze chopped herbs in olive oil in an ice cube tray. No more throwing away half-used bunches.

With these tricks, you’ll always have bright, fragrant herbs ready to elevate even the simplest weeknight meal.
